The Indian holiday Diwali was celebrated in Ashgabat

The Indian festival of fire and light, Diwali, was celebrated at the “Yyldyz” hotel in Ashgabat. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Vidhu Nair and Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov opened the event with words of greeting, informs a Turkmenportal correspondent.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, international and public organizations, the media, etc. took part in the celebration.

Diwali is the most popular festival in India, symbolizing the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. On this day, families and friends come together to decorate their homes with lamps (diyas) and lights, light firecrackers, and exchange gifts and sweets.

A rich cultural program was prepared for the guests of the celebration, including an evening of Bollywood dancing, instrumental music, an exhibition, henna application, fireworks and, of course, delicious Indian snacks and drinks.

Guests of the event highly appreciated the cultural program and also expressed gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to take part in this holiday.
