The ILO expert held meetings with the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan

Meetings between International Labor Organization (ILO) expert Manuel Roxo and the head and staff of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan were held in Ashgabat.

According to the MIC, the purpose of the working visit of the international ILO expert is to assess the capacity of government institutions of Turkmenistan in considering citizens’ appeals related to labor rights.

During the meetings, issues of implementing the tasks provided for in the “Road Map of Cooperation Activities between the Government of Turkmenistan and the International Labor Organization for 20242025” were discussed, as well as promising areas of bilateral cooperation and ways of their development.

International labor standards and labor legislation of Turkmenistan, the role and activities of the Ombudsman’s Office in considering complaints on labor rights issues were reviewed.

During the meetings, the positive dynamics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ILO and the importance of intensifying bilateral interaction in the exchange of experience and best practices, organizing awareness-raising work to improve the legal literacy of the population were noted, the source notes.
