The head of Turkmenistan expressed condolences to the President of Georgia in connection with the victims of the landslide in Shovi

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent sincere condolences to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in connection with the landslide that occurred in the territory of the Shovi resort, which led to numerous casualties and destruction, the Watan information program of the Turkmen television reported today.

On behalf of the people and the Government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, the head of Turkmenistan conveyed words of deep empathy and support at this difficult moment to the families, relatives and friends of the victims.

The resort of Shovi in the high-mountainous region of Racha of Georgia was completely destroyed due to a landslide that came down on August 3, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said. As a result, 18 people were killed, 16 more are missing.

The cause of the landslide in the Shovi resort in the highland region of Racha in Georgia was a partial collapse of the Buba glacier located up the gorge.

On August 7, mourning was declared in Georgia in connection with the incident.
