Vice-premier, Head of the Foreign Ministry Rashid Meredov had working trip to the capital of the Republic of Tunisia where he was received by President Beji Caid Essebsi.
Mutual intent to active cooperation in international arena, in particular under the United Nations, has been expressed during the meeting.In this regard, it is worth mentioning that Tunisia is the co-author of number of the Resolutions of the UN General Assembly initiated by Turkmenistan and unanimously adopted by the world community.
Special attention has been paid to the improvement of the positions in trade and economic spheres.In this context, the President of Tunisia proposed to organize the visit of the government and ministerial delegations as well as to establish joint working group, which activity would be focused in the expansion of bilateral partnership.
During working visit, the Head of Turkmen Foreign Ministry had meetings in the foreign department and the Ministry of Development, Investments and International Cooperation of Tunisia.Subjects related to activation of the dialog in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian directions have been discussed during the talks.
Investment activity, industrialization, trade and agriculture, establishment of direct contacts between business circles of two countries have been outlined among priority vectors of cooperation.In this context, the agreement on exchange of business delegations, organization of joint forums, participation in international conferences, exhibitions and fairs held in Turkmenistan and Tunisia has been reached.
The Memorandum on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia and Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia on Cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Diplomatic Educational, Scientific and Research Institute of Tunisia have been signed the outcomes of the talks.
The agreement on development of contractual and legal base regulating bilateral contacts in investment and tax spheres has also been reached.
