Russian language training, the work of translators and legal linguists in the Commonwealth of Independent States were discussed during the international conference “Russian language - the basis of integration dialogue in the CIS region”, held on October 26-27 in St.
Petersburg (Russia).At the invitation of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the head of the OKTAWA Translation and Legalization Bureau, Serdar Kurbansahatov, took part in the forum.
The international conference was one of the key events declared by the Council of Heads of State of the CIS as the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication, and brought together in the city on the Neva representatives of the legislative and executive bodies of the CIS member states, specialized cultural, scientific and educational institutions, international organizations, business and academic communities, media.
The organizers of the plenary sessions, as well as round tables held at the Tauride Palace and at the headquarters of the IPA CIS, were the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Russian National Library, the Presidential Library.

The main topics of discussion were: the current state of the Russian language as a translation language in the system of relations between countries in the CIS, its potential in the field of humanitarian international cooperation, the parameters of its functioning in the educational sector, integration opportunities, prospects and the degree of prevalence on the Internet and other media, as well as current issues of legal linguistics, creation of multilingual dictionaries of terms and reference books on current areas of science, technology, economics, culture, creation of a unified system for training translators.
Based on the results of the conference, a final resolution was adopted. A thematic exhibition was organized within the framework of the forum.
Speaking at a thematic round table meeting of the international conference “Russian language as a translation language in the CIS space”, organized by the Union of Translators of Russia, the head of the “OKTAWA” Translation and Legalization Bureau Serdar Kurbansahatov spoke about the situation of the Russian language in Turkmenistan, focusing on its functioning in various fields life of the state and society, in the law-making space, as well as on the institutionalization of industry translation, taking into account the experience of the enterprise he heads.
Serdar Kurbansahatov also took part in a discussion on the issues of linguistic support for disaster medicine.
