The first private notaries began working in Turkmenistan

The first private notaries opened their offices in Ashgabat. This was reported by the Business Turkmenistan publication with reference to the legal department.

Private notaries provide legal advice and perform notarial activities, such as notarization and copying of documents, and offer other legal and technical services outside of their office, including weekends and holidays.

According to the new law of Turkmenistan “On notaries and notarial activities,” which came into force on January 1 of this year, the notaries of Turkmenistan are considered as a system consisting of bodies and authorized officials and private notaries.

The license of a private notary must be registered in the Information Database of License Holders of the Ministry of Adalat of Turkmenistan.

According to the approved procedure, one private notary is determined for 30 thousand inhabitants in the cities of Ashgabat, Arkadag and velayat centers. In cities with etrap status there is 1 private notary per 25 thousand inhabitants, and in etraps - per 20 thousand.

Also, a private notary can work on the border of populated areas remote from the state notary’s office.

The fee for private notary services is indicated on each notarized document and is transferred to a special bank account of the private notary, the source notes.

At the moment, private notaries are based in the building of the Ashgabat State Notary Office at the address: Gorogly Street, 85.
