The exhibition “Women in the Olympic Games” opened in Ashgabat

The exhibition Les Elles des Jeux (Women in the Olympic Games) opened at the Nadar Gallery of the French Institute in Ashgabat.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.

The exhibition, presented by the National Sports Museum of Nice, aims to tell the story of female athletes who took decades to gradually find their rightful place in the world of sports in general and, in particular, in the world of the Olympic movement.

Les Elles des Jeux traces the evolution of female athletes over more than 130 years, and is also a tribute to pioneering leaders such as Alice Millia (creator of the Women's World Games in 1922) and great French and international athletes such as Christine Caron, Marie-Josée Perec, Laura Manadou, Clarissa Agbenenou and Simone Biles.

Overall, the exhibition represents a unique opportunity to discover the little-known but important history of women in sports.

This exhibition is part of the cultural program Paris 2024 and is labeled Cultural Olympiad, according to a press release from the French Institute.

The exhibition will be open every day from 9:00 to 20:00 at the Nadar Gallery until September. Free admission.

Address of the French Institute: st. Aga Garryeva (formerly Sokolovsky), house 69.
