On August 11, on the eve of the International Day of the Caspian Sea, the environmental campaign “Green Games” was held in the city of Hazar, Balkan velayat. The event was organized by the Nature Conservation Society of Turkmenistan and the mountaineering club “MERT” with the support of the UNDP project “Sustainable Cities of Turkmenistan”.

Participants of the action, among whom were employees of protected areas, members of the alpine club "MERT", volunteers and vacationers, collected more than two tons of garbage on the coast of the Caspian Sea in the Gyzylgum region. The bulk of the waste consisted of plastic and glass.

The organizers emphasized the importance of environmental education and called on citizens to take a responsible attitude towards nature. Local residents noted that such cleaning should be carried out regularly.

The action is aimed at drawing attention to the problems of pollution of the Caspian Sea and the preservation of its ecosystem. Organizers hope that this event will help raise environmental awareness among citizens and keep the coastline clean.
