According to a study by travel planning service OneTwoTrip, the most overrated attraction in the world is the Eiffel Tower in Paris. In second place is the Leaning Tower of Pisa, in third place is the Colosseum, writes RIA.
1876 tourists took part in the study. 57% of them said they always enjoy visiting iconic tourist spots. Another 40% were disappointed only a couple of times. However, 3% of respondents noted that attractions regularly do not meet their expectations.
The main reason for tourists' disappointment is the discrepancy between reality and expectations. 67% of respondents were unhappy that the place was overrated.
Other reasons for disappointment were:
- poor condition of the tourist site (29%);
- a large number of visitors (27%);
- inconsistency of the location with photographs from the Internet (18%);
- high entrance fee (12%);
- difficult road to the site (10%).
