A concert of the eccentric duo of pianists from Germany PIANOTAINMENT took place in Ashgabat to a full house.
Both musicians Marcel Dorn and Stefan Wei come from the small area of Allgäu in Bavaria, both are almost the same age, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: The Golden Age”.
Marcel and Stefan base their performances on interpretations of famous pieces of music. They combine the popular hit Happy birthday to you with Strauss's Waltz, Rossini's The Barber of Seville or Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.
However, their musical mischief looks elegant and always evokes a positive reaction from listeners.
As the musicians themselves said, they gave 1000 concerts in 100 countries, including Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
A screen was installed on the stage on which the faces and hands of the pianists were broadcast.
At the end of their program, the duo performed their fastest piece, “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Rimsky-Korsakov.
The musicians’ performance also included an interactive activity: at the end they held a vote among the public: “What should we perform as an encore? Who's for the slow piece? Who is for fast? Fast wins.
The potpourri performed by Marcel and Stefan was also accompanied by their singing and even dancing.
Amid loud applause, the German musicians were presented with national skullcaps “tahya”, which they immediately put on themselves. After the concert, a free photo session was organized - many in the hall wanted to take a souvenir photo with the unusual musicians.
The concert was organized by the German Embassy in Turkmenistan, with the support of the country's Ministry of Culture and the theater administration.
