The development of a Roadmap for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNESCO Institute was discussed

During an online meeting between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), the development of a Roadmap for cooperation between the two parties was discussed. This was reported by newscentralasia.net with reference to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France.

The roadmap for cooperation is designed to identify specific steps and action plans to promote educational and information initiatives in Turkmenistan.

The talks were attended by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Gurbangul Atayeva, Deputy Minister Azat Atayev, representatives of the Ministry, as well as Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO Maksat Charyev.

On behalf of UNESCO, the meeting was attended by IITE Director Tao Zhan, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Tehran Golda El-Khoury, and Head of the UNESCO Education Policy Division Gwan-Chol Chang.

The parties also exchanged views on the introduction of a new education management information system (EMIS) in Turkmenistan, agreed to continue the process of developing a Cooperation Roadmap and sign the document in the near future.

The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), located in Moscow, was established by decision of the 29th session of the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1997 and is a structural division of UNESCO. It is the first and only UNESCO Institute specialized in the application of ICTs in education.

We remind that the issue of developing a Roadmap for cooperation between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the UNESCO Institute was recently discussed at a regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
