The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva

The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, took part in the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland. The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Railways and promoting the country’s peacekeeping initiatives, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

On March 23, the delegation spoke at the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, where Gulmanova spoke about measures to ensure gender equality in Turkmenistan, including the implementation of the National Plan for 2021-2025. She also held a meeting with IPU President Tulia Axon, at which she discussed prospects for cooperation, including with Tanzania.

On March 24, the Turkmen delegation spoke at a meeting of the IPU Assembly, where it informed about the resolution adopted by the UN at the initiative of Turkmenistan to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. An invitation was announced to participate in the upcoming regional conference, organized jointly with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

At a meeting with IPU General Director Martin Chungong, the parties discussed the importance of coordinating efforts to solve global challenges and the possibility of Turkmenistan’s representation in the organization’s governing bodies. Members of the delegation also participated in the Forum of Young Parliamentarians.
