The delegation of Turkmenistan is studying Georgia’s experience in joining the WTO

A study visit of the Turkmen delegation is taking place in Tbilisi, dedicated to studying best practices in negotiations on accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and promoting national trade policy. The visit will last from 27 to 31 May 2024, it is organized with the assistance of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

The delegation of Turkmenistan included representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Justice, the Central Bank, the State Customs Service and other departments. During the visit, the Turkmen side held meetings with colleagues from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tax Service and the Customs Department of Georgia.

At the meetings, bilateral relations in the field of economics and trade, the process of membership in the WTO, the functions and obligations associated with joining this organization were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the modernization and simplification of customs procedures, as well as fiscal reforms within the framework of WTO membership.

The study visit of the Turkmen delegation to Georgia continues. The country is studying the experience of partners on the path to integration into the global trading system.
