The death toll in Turkey as a result of devastating earthquakes with epicenters in Kahramanmaras has risen to 48 448 people.
This was announced at a press conference in the province of Malatya by Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu, Anadolu agency reports.
According to Soylu, 6 660 foreigners were among those killed in the earthquake, most of them Syrians.
He also added that forensic experts are trying to identify 1 615 people, some of them are foreigners, some are Turkish citizens.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that the Government continues to provide financial assistance to citizens after a natural disaster.
According to Soylu, 239 container towns are planned to be set up in the provinces of Turkey, on the territory of which 115 585 containers will be installed.
Every day, 3 882 000 servings of hot meals and 4 million loaves of bread are distributed in the affected region, he added.
We remind that, on February 6, two earthquakes with a magnitude of more than seven points occurred in the south and southeast of Turkey. The devastating earthquake was also felt in neighboring countries.
