A court in the Argentine suburb of San Isidro has approved the relocation of the remains of legendary footballer Diego Maradona. The body is planned to be exhumed from the private cemetery Bella Vista on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where it is located next to the graves of the athlete's parents, and transferred to a new mausoleum in the center of the capital, vokrugsveta.ru reports.
The initiators of the creation of a public memorial complex were Maradona's daughters, Dalma and Giannina. The construction of the mausoleum and memorial site, named “M10” in honor of the footballer's playing number, is underway in the Puerto Madero area.
The location was not chosen by chance: the complex will be located near the city's main square, Plaza de Mayo, the president's residence, and the La Boca area, where the Boca Juniors football club, for which Maradona played, is based.
Let us remind that Diego Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60. The cause of death, according to the autopsy results, was chronic heart failure, which led to sudden cardiac arrest.
