The concept of QR code has been introduced into the Law of Turkmenistan "On information and its protection"

Today the Law of Turkmenistan "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan" On Information and Its Protection "came into force. According to the new Law, the following changes and additions have been made.

In article 1, paragraph 1 is stated as "information - all information or messages in paper, electronic or other form, regardless of the methods of search, processing, storage, transmission and distribution" and is supplemented by the following paragraph:

"20) QR-code is an operatively approved two-dimensional barcode containing encoded information for reading and recognition using technical means."

Article 6 is supplemented with an article as follows:

"Article 61. Features of using QR codes

1. QR codes may contain information about the website address, e-mail, personal information of individuals and legal entities, or other data.

2. Decryption of the coded information specified in the first part of this article is carried out by technical means intended for reading and recognizing information.

3. QR codes can be used for the following purposes:

1) on packages of goods, in advertisements, which allow scanning using technical means without entering a full email address;

2) when issuing tickets for road, rail, water and air transport;

3) when making payments (including through an electronic system in the "online" mode);

4) ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population;

5) in other spheres of society. "

The law was published in today's edition of the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper and comes into effect from the day of its official publication.
