Pixar’s Inside Out 2 grossed 724.4 million USD in its first week of release, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year. This is a sensational result that even surpassed the box office of Dune 2 ($711.8 million). Film.ru reports this with reference to The Numbers.
In the US, the Inside Out sequel earned $100 million in its second weekend, becoming the first animated film in history to achieve such a result. The previous record belonged to Super Mario Brothers, which grossed $92 million. The total box office in North America reached $355.2 million.
The cartoon earned $369.2 million in international markets.
The second part of the cartoon tells about the new adventures of the girl Riley’s emotions, which help her cope with the difficult period of growing up.
It was previously reported that Pixar is also working on an Inside Out spin-off series, which will be released on Disney+ in 2025.
