The autumn archaeological campaign of the TAP project has ended in Turkmenistan

In Turkmenistan, the autumn archaeological campaign of the TAP (Togolok archaeological project), which was carried out by scientists from the International Association of Mediterranean and Oriental Studies (ISMEO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, as well as with foreign partners, ended with great success.

This was reported by the press service of the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The object of archaeological research is the historical monument of Togolok in the Murghab etrap of Mary velayat, located approximately 10-15 km south of Gonur. An Indo-Iranian temple and fortress dating from the first half of the 2nd millennium BC, belonging to the late phase of the Bactrian-Margiana archaeological complex, were discovered here.
