On Tuesday, September 27, the 2022 Asian Football Cup starts in Kuwait. The tournament will last two weeks and will end on October 8.
The Continental Futsal Championship will be held for the 17th time. Kuwait will host the Asian Futsal Cup for the first time.
All games of the tournament will be held on the sports arena at the Saad Al Abdullah Arena in Al Kuwait.In the championship will play 16 teams which will be divided into four groups.
Two best teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.In the championship will take part the national team of Turkmenistan.Turkmen futsal players for the 7th time will perform in the final part of the Asian Cup.
Previously they participated in this tournament in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
Turkmen futsal players will play on the continental championship after 10 years. The rivals of the national team of Turkmenistan in “B” group will be the futsal players of Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Tajikistan.
On September 27, the national team of Turkmenistan will play against the team of Uzbekistan. The game will start at 13:00 Ashgabat time. In the same day the following matches will take place: Bahrain — Tajikistan (group “B”), as well as Iraq — Thailand, Kuwait — Oman (group “A”).
The current Asian champion is the Iranian national team. The Iranian team is currently the strongest team in Asia, as evidenced by ten victories at the continental championship out of twelve possible. The Japanese national team has three titles.
In the final match of the Asian Cup 2018, Iran defeated Japan with 4:0 score, and in the game for the third place Uzbekistan beat Iraq in penalty series.
