The Argentine authorities have appointed a new ambassador to Turkmenistan

The Government of Argentina intends to send the diplomat Eduardo Suayn as the new ambassador of the republic to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow). This is reported by Infobae with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the South American country.

At the same time, Suayn will continue to serve as ambassador to Russia, to which position he was appointed in February 2021.

The new Argentine ambassador to Turkmenistan, Suayn, is 58 years old. He was born in the Argentine city of Santiago del Estero, has a legal and diplomatic education. He worked at the Embassy of Argentina in Italy from 1999 to 2006.

Suayn served as deputy Foreign Minister in the government of former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in 2011-2015. In 2016-2017, he headed the Embassy of Argentina in Paraguay. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Russia, Suayn headed the Institute of Diplomatic Service (ISEN) at the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

Turkmenistan and Argentina established diplomatic relations in September 1992.

It should be recalled that in July 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Then the parties discussed the prospects of Turkmen-Argentine cooperation.
