Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov met with the head of the protocol department of the European Commission Pernilla Helin to present her credentials and discuss the upcoming meeting with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Belgium reports.
It is noted that the parties considered the necessary preparations for the ceremony of presenting the original credentials to the head of the EC, which will be an important step in shaping relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
In addition, Palvanov and Helin discussed the prospects for future high-level visits between Turkmenistan and the EU, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an open dialogue and cooperation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov appointed Sapar Palvanov as the new head of the Turkmen delegation to the European Union on February 18.By this time, Palvanov held the post of Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, to which he was appointed in July 2022.
The Turkmen diplomatic mission in Brussels is also responsible for relations with the EU, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, as well as with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Sapar Palvanov is fluent in English, Russian and Turkish.He has been in the diplomatic service since 2013, worked as a teacher at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Since 2015, he specialized in the department for the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and in 2018 he became the head of this department.
