The “618” shopping festival has started in China

The annual “618” shopping festival has kicked off in China, lasting a whole month. June 18, the date encrypted in the name of the festival, marks the beginning of grandiose sales, covering not only the online space, but also offline stores. Bigasia.ru reports this.

The festival was initiated by the Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com, which first organized a large-scale sale in honor of its founding in 2010. Since then, “618” has become a true shopping festival, attracting millions of shoppers from all over the world.

This year, to make the festival even more accessible to foreign buyers, Taobao has published detailed instructions in nine languages. Sale participants can count on fast delivery of goods abroad thanks to an established cross-border express delivery system and a network of local warehouses.

According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, in the first quarter of 2024, online retail sales in China exceeded 450 billion USD, showing annual growth of 12%. At the same time, cross-border trade turnover reached almost 80 billion USD.
