Tender announced for the construction of the first solar wind power plant in Turkmenistan

A tender for the construction of a hybrid solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 megawatts on the territory of the “Altyn Asyr” lake in the Serdar etrap of Balkan velayat has been announced in Turkmenistan. This was reported in today's edition of the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Those wishing to take part in it must pay 2000 US dollars to receive the terms of reference in the building of the Ministry of Energy in Ashgabat. Proposals are accepted until August 6, 2021.

It will be the country's first renewable power plant. On June 15, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with its project.

Recall that a loan for the construction of a hybrid solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 megawatts in the amount of 25 million US dollars was allocated on June 10 by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.

According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, signed at the Government meeting on Friday, the loan was provided to the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs for 15 years with a grace period of 3 years at 4% per annum.

The document allowed the Ministry of Energy to receive this loan from the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs at 4.5% per annum.

In May 2019, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov launched the construction of a modern village in the Karakum Desert near an artificial lake. As it was reported then, wind and solar installations will be used here to generate electricity.
