President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani.
Cordially greeting each other, the heads of the two neighboring states expressed satisfaction with an opportunity to discuss the priority issues of Turkmen-Iranian relations.
The leaders of the two states exchanged mutual congratulations on the holy month of Oraza, addressing the wishes of peace, prosperity and wellbeing to the peoples of Turkmenistan and Iran.
During the telephone conversation, the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran highly evaluated the interstate dialogue, which is based on the traditions of good neighborliness and historical and cultural ties that unite the two peoples.
As noted, today, the Turkmen-Iranian relations rapidly develop in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres. Along with this, Turkmenistan and Iran effectively cooperate within the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the UN and its specialized structures.
The heads of the two states exchanged views on crucial issues of regional and international problems, including coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) that spreads over a wide geographical space and has a negative impact on the lives of many states and peoples.
As noted, the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection had acquired a global character and had led to critical situation in the world.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan fully supported the efforts of the world community in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Our country stands for the intensification of international cooperation aimed at developing coordinated measures to counter this dangerous threat based on enduring universal values as humanism, mutual support and solidarity.
In this regard, the Turkmen leader expressed belief that the consolidation of efforts of all the states on the planet would contribute to achieving the desired results to address this important task.
Thanking the Iranian colleague for the great attention paid to bilateral cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that mutually beneficial interstate partnership would strengthen for the common good.
Confirming the commitment of the Islamic Republic of Iran to traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, President Hassan Rouhani expressed support to the Turkmen leader’s initiatives aimed at enhancing regional and international cooperation to ensure universal well-being and balanced solutions to critical problems of our time.
At the end of the conversation, underlining the significant potential for the further dynamic development of fruitful Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, the heads of the two neighboring states once again congratulated each other on the Holy month of Oraza - a blessed month of good deeds, mercy and humanism, addressing in this regard the best wishes to the fraternal peoples of the both countries and the entire Muslim Ummah.
