Technical Iodine Output in Turkmenistan’s Balkan Province Nears 511 Tons

The chemicals production enterprises in Turkmenistan’s western province of Balkan produced nearly 511 tons of technical iodine in the January-August period of 2023, the country’s official media reported on Wednesday.

The total volume of industrial products produced at state and private enterprises in the Balkan province from January to August this year amounted to more than 13.6 billion manats, an increase of 6.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Private enterprises accounted for about half of the production.

In the first eight months of the current year, the total volume of electricity produced at Avaza and Balkanabat state-owned power plants and Turkmenbashi thermal power plant amounted to more than 3.15 billion kilowatt-hours.

During the period, the enterprises of Türkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concern produced more than 2.36 million tons of oil and over 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, including gas condensate, from operating wells.

Türkmennebit’s plan for liquefied natural gas production for eight months in Balkan increased by 58 percent compared to the same period last year.
