Teachers from Turkmenistan took part in UNESCO regional training on cultural heritage education

From August 13 to 15, 2024, a regional training on cultural heritage education for teachers of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network in Central Asia was held in Almaty (Kazakhstan).

The event was attended by a delegation from Turkmenistan, which included a referent of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and teachers of the country's UNESCO Associated Schools.

This was reported in a statement by the press service of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

The training was organised within the framework of the EU/UNESCO project “Silk Roads Heritage Corridors in Central Asia International Dimensions of the European Year of Cultural Heritage”. The key theme of the event was the integration of cultural heritage into school teaching in order to improve the quality of education and awareness of the importance of living heritage.

The organisers emphasised the importance of preserving cultural heritage for current and future generations. The training is seen as an important step towards shaping a sustainable future, particularly in the context of the rich cultural and natural diversity of the Central Asian region.

The event also demonstrated the desire of Central Asian countries to contribute to the implementation of UNESCO Conventions on the Protection of Cultural, Natural and Intangible Heritage through Education and Broad Citizen Participation.
