Tashkent Hosts Meeting of Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission

On July 16, 2024, the 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation was held in Tashkent.

From Turkmen side the meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan led by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B.Atdayev. Uzbek delegation was headed by the Deputy Prime-minister the Republic of Uzbekistan Zh. Khodzhaev.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the previous meeting of the Joint Commission.

It was noted that regular and constructive contacts between the leaders of the two countries are an effective impetus in the further development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations on various aspects of interstate interaction.

At the meeting of the Commission, the parties discussed the issues of the expansion of trade-economic collaboration and industrial cooperation, strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the spheres of energy, transport and transit.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation in agriculture, water management, in particular, the use of water resources in the region. The issues of environment protection were also discussed. In addition, the participants considered the key aspects of scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

On the results of the work of the 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission, the Protocol was signed.
