Turkmen National Music Conservatory students and alumni, taught by Honored Art Worker of Turkmenistan Nikolay Amiyants, have organized a violin concert to celebrate the maestro’s 85th birthday.Friends and admirers of Nikolay Artemievich’s talent gathered in the Conservatory’s Big Hall to share such a joyous occasion with the luminary of the national school of violin playing and to say once again in unison, Viva, Maestro!’.
The evening of music opened with the robust and colorful Hora Staccato’ by Romanian composer and violin virtuoso Grigoraş Dinicu.It was performed by an ensemble of violinists under the baton of Nikolay Amiyants.
As the bows moved in perfect synch, the music, depicting scenes from daily life of Romanian Gypsies, filled the air...The violinists masterly captured the slightest emotional nuances of the piece soul-stirring lyricism, passion and temperament.
Renowned Turkmen violinist Ibragim Orazov continued the concert with one of the best-known compositions by Niccolò Paganini, La Campanella’.The audience listened with bated breath to his virtuoso melismatic performance, replicating soft bell-like sounds - the name of the piece translates as the little bell’.
Henryk Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No.1, Part 1, brilliantly played by second-year student Merdan Charyev, sounded truly soulful.Fourth-year student Aybolek Muhieva, a grand prize winner of the 6th Rome International Music Competition, performed Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’ Piano Concerto No. 2 and No. 3 for the maestro and his guests.
The event also featured pieces by Tchaikovsky, Aram Khachaturian and Kara Karaev.The concert Viva, Maestro!’ ended with Maurice Ravel’s Concert Rhapsody Tzigane’ (Gypsy) performed by the Conservatory’s string orchestra under Tahir Ataev, with Bahram Dolyev, who graduated from the Conservatory in 2015, as a soloist.
Then, the orchestra and other solo performers played the Happy Birthday to You’ song.Nikolay Amiyants’s colleagues, students and listeners wished him a happy birthday again.Stella Faramazova, the event’s concertmaster and winner of international competitions, who counts herself indeed fortunate to have worked with Nikolay Artemievich for over 30 years, extended her warm wishes and noted that not only had he nurtured a cohort of outstanding performers, but he is an inspiring example of how to devote oneself to the service of art.
