Thirty-four teams of schoolchildren took part in festival of children’s intellectual creativity Wise Owl, which was held in the city on the Neva River, completed on January 31. They held cup and diploma events in three different types of intellectual games.
In the opening tournament Jeopardy Quiz, the first place was won by the Sphinxes team under the leadership of fifteen-year-old Georgy Smirnov.The author of these lines was especially pleased when George gave the correct answer to the question about the name of the poet Makhtumkuli’s father.
After the game, the captain of the Sphinxes noted that he is engaged in optional language studies and knows that the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages is named after the famous poet and scientist Dovletmamed Azadi.
The second place was taken by the girls’ team Nike, named after not only the Greek Goddess of Victory, but also in honor of the captain of this team Veronica Pavlova.
The bronze medal was awarded to the Early Response team of Mikhail Novikov.
In What? Where? When? Quiz again the girls from Nike brought home the bacon. They outplayed the Gymnasium team on the additional question and rose to the third place. Among six questions set from Ashgabat and dedicated to the great musicians, not a single one remained unanswered, that greatly pleased the organizers.
The first place with the result of seventeen correct answers was taken by the Nevsky Prospekt team. Already experienced, despite such a young age, the erudites defeated the Hermitage team by one point and the Nike team by two.
