Sources of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”: no changes pertaining to international travel passport envisaged for dual nationals

At the end of last week Radio “Azatlyk” reported that Turkmenistan’s Migration Office started accepting documents to issue international travel passports for dual nationals, who had been granted citizenship of the Russian Federation after June 2003.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” contacted the local offices of Turkmenistan’s Migration Service in Ashgabat and Dashoguz, but, according to them, no changes have been recorded so far. The employees of the agency report that they have not received new orders pertaining to the changes in the document acceptance procedure.

The editor-in-chief of “Azatlyk” Farrukh Yusupov, in his turn, confirmed to “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, that the information on the acceptance of documents for Russian-Turkmen dual nationals was received from several sources.

“Nezavisimaya Gazeta”, with reference to its own sources in Ashgabat and Moscow, also reported about the launch of the legalization process for dual nationals in Turkmenistan.

We will continue to monitor the situation.
