In the first half of 2024, Turkmenistan produced over 40.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas. This information was announced by the Chairman of the State Committee on Statistics Dovletgeldi Amanmuhammedov at an extended meeting of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers, TDH reports.
In addition to gas, more than 4.16 million tons of oil were produced in the country during the same period. Amanmuhammedov also noted an increase in the production of petroleum products compared to the same period last year: the production of petroleum bitumen increased by 13.2%, and the production of fuel oil increased by 31.7%.
It was previously reported that the volume of natural gas production in Turkmenistan at the end of 2023 amounted to 80.6 billion cubic meters, a year earlier gas production was at the level of 80 billion cubic meters.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of proven natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
