"Silk Way 2024" Rally: Turkmen riders chase the race leaders

On July 5, the international rally “Silk Way 2024” was launched, in which racers from Turkmenistan participate. This large-scale competition will last 11 days and finish on July 15 in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar.

The crew of the Toilyev brothers from Turkmenistan, winners in the T2 category in 2022, is in close proximity to the leaders after three stages.

After the 3rd stage, according to the Silk press service, the first is the S&A Racing team led by Andrey Sushentsov. In second place is rally newcomer Mikhail Mityaev from LADA Sport ROSNEFT Raid, 24 seconds ahead of Anton Melnikov from the Podmoskovye team. They are closely followed by three crews of the Automobile Sports Federation of Turkmenistan.

This year's race route runs through the picturesque routes of Siberia and Altai, and then goes to Mongolia.The total length of the rally will be 5256,70 km, of which 2993,24 km are high-speed sections.

Riders will have to overcome a variety of climatic zones, including the unique sands of the Mongol Els and the northern regions of the Gobi Desert.

A special feature of the current rally will be the return of the marathon stage, where participants will have to independently service their vehicles without the help of mechanics.
