On 15 March Turkmenistan’s Central Election Committee announced the results of the Presidential election, held on 12 March.
As expected, Serdar Berdymukhammedov, the son of the former President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, won the Presidential election taking 72.97% of the vote.
The remaining eight candidates secured from 1,09% to 11,09% of the vote.
Below are the results of the election:
Serdar Berdymukhammedov (Deputy Prime Minister overseeing finance) 72,97%;
• Khydyr Nunnayev (Provost for Research of Turkmenistan’s Institute of Physical Culture and Sport) 11,09%;
• Agadjan Bekmyradov (deputy khyakim of Mary velayat) 7,22%;
• Berdimammet Kurbanov (chief physician of “Awaza” health resort, a member of Mejlis) 2,22%;
• Perkhat Begendzhov (principal of Finance and Economics secondary vocational school in Lebap velayat) 2,02%;
• Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiev (head of the public health authority of Babadayhan etrap, Akhal) 1,16%;
• Maksat Odeshov (Chairman of the Committee of the Democratic Party in the etrap named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, Dashoguz velayat) 1,15%;
• Kakageldi Saryev (CEO of the research and production center “Renewable energy sources” of Turkmenistan’s Energy Institute) 1,09%;
• Babymurat Meredov (CEO of “Wepaly gurluşyk”) 1,08%.
