Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi

Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi during his visit to the Balkan Region, the State News Agency reports.

The Head of state inspected the passenger and cargo terminals, reviewed the work of the Customs and Border Services.

It was reported that 2 million 800 thousand tons of bulk cargo were shipped last year, which accounted for 94 percent of the terminal's capacity.

The President of the country gave instructions to continue increasing the capacity of the terminal.

The Head of state also inspected the warehouses with a capacity of 35 thousand tons located on the port territory intended for storing grain products.

Then the President of Turkmenistan visited the Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. Here, along with shipbuilding, a full cycle of work on the repair of tankers, bulk carriers, tugboats and other vessels is performed.

In addition, the capacity of this complex allows construction of 4-6 ships annually, as well as repair and maintenance of 20-30 ships made by local experts.

Stressing the great importance of ensuring the coherence of shipping communications in the development of transport services, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need of taking targeted measures aimed at further modernization of the port.
