Serdar Berdimuhamedov Receives Newly Appointed U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Elizabeth Rudd, on Wednesday.

The diplomat presented her credentials and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from U.S. President Joseph Biden to the President and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. She reaffirmed her country's interest in strengthening the traditionally friendly intergovernmental relations.

Congratulating Ms. Elizabeth Rudd on her appointment to this high diplomatic post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished her success in further developing the multifaceted Turkmen-American cooperation. He also conveyed his greetings and good wishes to the President of the United States, emphasizing Turkmenistan's commitment to expanding bilateral relations based on mutual understanding, respect, and trust.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the fruitful nature of the intergovernmental dialogue, which continues to develop across its full spectrum, including in the political and diplomatic spheres.

It was noted that regular contacts between the relevant departments of the two countries facilitate a constructive exchange of views on current international issues, particularly focusing on sustainable development, security, and climate change.

It was also emphasized that Turkmenistan, whose neutral status has been recognized twice by the United Nations, actively pursues a foreign policy aimed at fostering cooperation, strengthening peace, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at both regional and global levels.

One of the priority areas of bilateral interaction is the trade and economic sphere.In this context, the significant contribution of the TurkmenistanU.S.Business Council to realizing the mutual potential was noted.

Over the years, major American companies such as Boeing, General Electric, John Deere, and Case New Holland have implemented important joint projects in Turkmenistan.There are considerable prospects and opportunities for further expanding mutually beneficial economic partnerships.

Cultural and humanitarian ties are also an integral part of Turkmen-American relations. This is evidenced by mutual visits of delegations from both countries, regular cultural days, various exhibitions, and other events. Recently, the Magtymguly Pyragy cultural park complex was ceremoniously opened in Ashgabat, featuring sculptures of prominent foreign literary figures, including the American poet Langston Hughes.

Ambassador Rudd expressed her honor in representing the United States in Turkmenistan and assured that she would actively work to strengthen the traditional intergovernmental dialogue and elevate it to a qualitatively new level.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ambassador Elizabeth Rudd expressed confidence that Turkmen-American relations, based on unwavering mutual goodwill, would continue to develop successfully, enriched with new concrete content.
