Serdar Berdimuhamedov nominated as candidate for President of Turkmenistan

Vice Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov has been nominated as a candidate for the post of President of Turkmenistan. His nomination took place at the extraordinary congress of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, which took place today at the Center for Public Organizations, the “Watan” news program of the Turkmen television reported.

Members of the Democratic Party emphasized that the presidential elections scheduled for March 12 will be held in new historical conditions, as the country is entering a new period of its progressive development.

The speakers noted the applicant's outstanding managerial and organizational qualities, great merits and achievements in the implementation of national development programs, organizational skills and experience gained in recent years in various areas of state activity, and a strategic style of thinking.

As you know, the political career of Serdar Berdimuhamedov began in the fall of 2016.Then he was elected to the Mejlis.Then he was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In June 2019, Serdar Berdimuhamedov headed the Hakimlik of Ahal Velayat.Since February 7, 2020, he has been the Minister of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan.Exactly one year ago, Serdar Berdimuhamedov joined the Government and the State Security Council, and at the same time was appointed chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan.

After 5 months, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the financial and economic complex.

Noting also the high moral qualities of Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the congress delegates unanimously decided to nominate him as a candidate for the President of Turkmenistan.

In turn, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, thanking all those present for their trust, said that he was aware of his responsibility and would do everything in his power to justify it.

Speaking to the audience, the Deputy Prime Minister assured that, if he was elected to the post of President of the country, he would continue to follow the spiritual principles and heritage of his ancestors, sparing no effort for the sake of the Motherland and the prosperity of the people, diligently and creatively approach the implementation of historical initiatives of the leader of the nation.

“The main goal of all my worries will always be the happy life of our people, the transformation of our state into a progressive country of a new era,” said Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing confidence that 2022, the year of the election of the President of Turkmenistan, will be a year of rapid socio-economic development of the Motherland, the triumph of the development of the higher school of national democracy, the traditions of which are rooted in the depths of centuries.

“I firmly believe in our people, in their lofty and unshakable spirit, that, by joining forces, we will work to further transform our Motherland, strengthening the faith of President Arkadag in a bright and happy future,” said the candidate for the post of head of state.

The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed confidence that the members of the Democratic Party will support the implementation of grandiose undertakings and works, based on the principle "The state is for the person!".

In conclusion, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the great trust in his nomination as a candidate for the presidential elections in Turkmenistan and assured that he would work using all his abilities and knowledge.

Based on the results of the debate, the Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan adopted the relevant Resolution, which was sent to the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan for registration as candidates for the 2022 presidential elections in the prescribed manner.
