Seminars on labor rights of citizens were held in Turkmenistan

Seminars were held in Ahal, Mary and Dashoguz velayats on the labor rights of citizens and international standards and regulations regarding the prevention of forced and child labor.

The seminars were held within the framework of the implementation of the Roadmap for cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the International Labor Organization (ILO) for 2024-2025.

According to “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the events were attended by specialists from the ministries of labor and social protection, agriculture, education, health and medical industry, the State Corporation “Turkmenpagta” and their regional institutions, as well as representatives of local organizations of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan.

Representatives of the International Labor Organization, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan, the Office of the Ombudsman spoke at the seminars on the prevention of forced and child labor, and consideration of complaints during the cotton harvest.

Within the framework of the Roadmap for cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the ILO for the period 2024-2025, an active phase of negotiations, seminars and trainings began in June of this year, aimed at representatives of local authorities, social partners, residents of the country and aimed at increasing public awareness of part of preventing the mobilization and involvement of child labor in the cotton harvesting process.
