SEGA buys Angry Birds developers for $776 million

The Japanese company SEGA announced the purchase of Rovio Entertainment studio, known for the mobile series Angry Birds. The deal amounted to about $776 million, writes VK Play, citing a press release from the company.

“According to a statement from SEGA, it aims to strengthen its presence in the mobile market through the acquisition of Rovio. The company also noted that it wants to use its current and future titles in this area. Rovio itself plans to develop its own IP outside of mobile platforms,” the message says.

For the first time about the possible merger of SEGA and Rovio became known on April 15th. But then the media noted that the cost of the deal could reach a billion dollars.

Sega Corporation is an international company that produces video games and equipment for them. Sega's main office is located in Tokyo's Shinagawa Special District.
