Second Day of Cultural Week Showcases Literary and Musical Legacy of Turkmen People

By hosting the Culture Week this year that celebrates the slogan “Turkmenistan Is the Heart of the Great Silk Road”, not only has Ahal province become the center of the colorful creative traditions of the Turkmen people, but also the center of attraction for cultural figures and masters of art from every region of the country, their rave admirers and foreign tourists visiting this region to see the historical monuments of global significance located on its territory.

On 23 June, in honor of the Day of Workers of Culture and Art and Magtymguly Pyragy’s Poetry Day, representatives of creative and scientific communities and public organizations visited the Museum of Magtymguly Pyragy and the monument to the great Turkmen poet in the district of Magtymguly of the province of Balkan.

Poetry readings were also held as part of the function.

The library of Ahal province hosted the conference of the country’s library workers and the exhibition of books and editorial products, where the recent book by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Worshippping Mother Worshipping a Sacred Person” took the pride of place.

Museums and libraries of the country are an important link in promoting the cultural heritage. They preserve and build on the art and intellectual treasures and unique historical evidence. Museum visitor statistics for the recent years reflect the positive dynamics that testifiy to the increased attention to the national heritage and much interest from foreign guests.

The Turkmen State Institute of Culture also contributed to the Cultural Week and staged a musical tribute to the national heritage with participation of students and professors of the institute.

Also on this day the administrative center of Ahal province Anew hosted concerts of Bagtyýar nesiller children’s vocal group and masters of art from Lebap and Mary provinces who presented colorful folk traditions of their regions and modern pieces.
