A videoconference meeting held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan brought together leading experts of the environmental management, heads of scientific departments of state reserves of the country, as well as international experts to discuss the issue of conserving persian leopard in Turkmenistan.
According to the participants of the meeting, in the Kopetdag, Balhan mountains, and in other habitats, the number of leopards is conserved mainly due to the efforts of the national nature reserves. Naturalists regularly monitor the Red Book predator, using innovative observation methods.
Meeting participants discussed the issues of further cooperation of national specialists with the Center for Landscape Conservation (CLLC, USA) within the framework of a new Memorandum of Cooperation, which is planned to be signed in 2021.
