A team of schoolchildren from Turkmenistan will go to the Chinese city of Shenzhen to participate in the International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry (IMO-58), which will be held from April 21 to 26. According to the organizers, this year a record number of countries will take part in the prestigious intellectual competition in chemistry - 29, reports the IIC.
Along with Turkmenistan, teams from European and Asian countries, including Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Hungary, Iran and other countries, will attend the Olympics.
For the first time, the Mendeleev Olympiad is held outside the CIS countries. It is worth noting that in 2009, the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, already hosted the 43rd Mendeleev Olympiad, bringing together the winners of national chemical tournaments and teachers from more than 15 countries.
In addition to traditional medals and certificates, special prizes await the winners of IMO-58. The tasks of the Olympiad, as always, will be more difficult than those of the World Chemistry Olympiad and will require from the participants, including the Turkmenistan team, not only deep theoretical knowledge in various fields of chemistry, but also a creative approach.
