Salt Lake Yuncheng, in the Chinese province of Shanxi, turned deep pink. This lake is one of the three largest endorheic salt lakes of the sodium sulfate type in the world. Thanks to the minerals and microorganisms in the water, the lake acquires an amazing and bright color at certain times of the year.
According to mail.ru, usually a colorful landscape on the lake can be observed in late January - early February, which coincides with the Chinese New Year, which is also called the Spring Festival. Locals say, that such bright colors are a sign of the coming spring.
