Said Seyidov appointed head coach of Turkmenistan national football team

Said Seyidov has been appointed to the post of head coach of the Turkmenistan national team, reported on the official website of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan.

Seyidov replaced Yazguly Hojageldiyev as the head coach of the Turkmenistan national team.

The next matches of the national team will be held in June - these will be the games of the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying tournament against the teams of Malaysia, Bangladesh and Bahrain.

Said Yusupovich Seyidov was born on January 22, 1962 in Ashgabat. He started his career in Ashgabat “Kolhozchi”. Later he played for the Uzbek club, and also for the Turkmen clubs “Kopetdag”, “Ahal”, “Nebitchi”, “Nisa” and “Turan”. For most of his sports career, he played as a midfielder.

In 1986-1991 Seyidov studied at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.

The 60 years old Seyidov during his professional coaching career has worked for various football clubs in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

In 2015-2019, Seyidov headed the Ashgabat "Kopetdag". In the first year of work, the team won the first league of Turkmenistan and got a place to play in the highest league of Turkmenistan. In 2018, under his leadership, “Kopetdag” won the Turkmenistan Football Cup.

Said Seyidov is a Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of Turkmenistan (2004).
