The delegation of the State Duma of Russia, headed by the Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived in Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat on Sunday on an official visit, according to the press release issued by the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament Federal Assembly.
As part of the visit, the delegation is scheduled to hold meetings in the parliament of Turkmenistan Mejlis. The parliamentarians from Russia and Turkmenistan will discuss new formats of cooperation aimed at development of bilateral relations.
Immediately upon arrival, Vyacheslav Volodin held the first meetings with his colleagues from the Mejlis.
The State Duma delegation includes Deputy Chairman Sholban Kara-ool, Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Local Government Alexey Didenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education Alexander Majuga and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Irina Rodnina.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Russia Vladimir Putin, following the talks in Moscow in June 2022, signed the Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership between the countries.
