The delegation of the State Duma of Russia, headed by the Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived to Turkmenistan on Sunday on an official visit.
Immediately after arrival, Volodin held his first meetings with the parliamentarians of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The delegation includes Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sholban Kara-ool, Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Local Government Alexey Didenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education Alexander Majuga and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Irina Rodnina as well.
As part of the official visit, the delegation is scheduled to hold meetings in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The parliamentarians from Russia and Turkmenistan will discuss new formats of cooperation aimed at development of bilateral relations.
Relations between Moscow and Ashgabat are actively developing, including the Parliamentary line.
Thus, in last November, a meeting of Vyacheslav Volodin with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was held in Moscow. During the meeting, the exchange of views on the issues of intensifying the inter-parliamentary dialogue was held. In particular, the initiative to form a parliamentary dimension of cooperation between the Caspian countries was considered.
Moreover, cooperation in the field of education, including the establishment of the Russian-Turkmen University in Ashgabat, was discussed.
