Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin met in Moscow with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the CIS countries to the Russian Federation. In the year that marks the 30th anniversary of the CIS the first sports games of the Commonwealth countries will be held in Kazan from 4 to 11 September 2021.
Matytsin told the diplomats about the most promising formats of cooperation in the field of sports, as well as preparations for the games.
Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee Denis Trefilov, who attended the meeting, noted that with the direct participation of the committee the Games’ Regulations were prepared and submitted for approval by the Council of CIS Heads of Government, and that almost everything had already been done to hold them to schedule.
The Forum marks the beginning of the practical implementation of the strategy of cooperation between the CIS countries in the field of sports until 2030, which was approved last May by the Council of CIS Heads of Government. The only problem for the games is the situation with the coronavirus in the world.
This year, according to the developed draft action plan for the implementation of the strategy, more than 100 events are outlined aimed at strengthening close contacts between the sports communities of the countries which will be represented at the games. As part of contacts, the exchange of ideas and practical experience in holding international competitions is to take place.
