Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat Ivan Volynkin expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for its careful attitude towards the common memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In an interview with Orient, he noted that Russian initiatives to celebrate Victory Day are finding a warm response from the Turkmen leadership and residents of the country.
“To be honest, I can’t believe that next year will mark 80 years since the Great Victory of the Soviet people over the fascist invaders.I would like to thank the authorities of Turkmenistan for their careful attitude towards our common memory and the measures taken to maintain in proper condition the monuments and memorial complexes dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the Red Army.
It is gratifying to see that Russian initiatives to celebrate Victory Day invariably find a warm response from both the leadership and residents of the country,” Volynkin noted.
The Russian Ambassador emphasized that fascism was defeated thanks to the unity of the Soviet people, and expressed hope that in 2025 the descendants of the heroes will march in a single line of the Immortal Regiment in Ashgabat.
“On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, it is planned to lay out an Alley of Memory near the walls of the embassy, hold traditional concerts with songs of those years and screenings of famous military-patriotic films,” Volynkin shared.
Flower-laying ceremonies at memorials and creative evenings dedicated to the common Victory will also be organized.
