Kazan "Rubin" defeated "Baltika" in the 32nd round of the championship of the teams of the First League in football. The meeting was held in Kaliningrad and ended with the score 1:0 in favor of the guests.
Marat Apshatsev scored the only goal in the match. In the second half, Rubin got the right to a penalty, but Oleg Ivanov failed to convert a 11-meter kick.
Thanks to this victory, Rashid Rahimov's wards topped the First League table and guaranteed themselves direct access to the Russian Premier League a year after relegation.
We remind that Rubin has been playing in the top division of Russian football since 2003, where the Kazan club was led by Turkmen coach Kurban Berdyev.Under his leadership, Rubin almost always fought for prizes - won the Russian championships in 2008 and 2009, twice the Russian Super Cup (2010, 2012), twice took part in the UEFA Champions League group stage, managed to reach the quarterfinals of the Europa League with the team, and also became the owner of the Russian Cup in the 2011/12 season.
Kurban Berdyev was assisted in his work in Russia by a whole group of Turkmen coaches - defenders Ivan Danilyants, Yakub Urazsakhatov and goalkeeper Vitaly Kafanov, known for playing for the Ashgabat Stroitel (in 1956-59 and 1976-87 were called Kolkhozchi).
