Rock and roll queen Tina Turner dies

Tina Turner, a rock and roll legend, one of the brightest and most iconic singers of the 20th century, died at her home in Switzerland at the age of 84. It is known that in recent years the singer struggled with oncology and kidney failure for a long time, and in 2013 she suffered a stroke.

Tina Turner's singing career began 60 years ago when Annie Mae Bullock (real name of the singer) became the lead singer of the Kings of Rhythm at the age of 16. After she married the head of the group, Ike Turner, a pseudonym appeared that made Tina Turner famous all over the world.

After a divorce and leaving the group, Tina Turner began a solo career, although in those days it was difficult for a black singer who performed alone. However, the original manner of singing and a powerful husky voice allowed her not only to achieve popularity, but also to be awarded the title of "Queen of Rock and Roll".

Tina Turner's songs that have become cult include The best, Golden Eye, Private Dancer, What's Love Got to Do With. The singer won the Grammy Award eight times and was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, in 1991 and 2021.

Tina Turner spent the last years of her life in Switzerland, of which she became a citizen in 2013.
