Results of the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on November 24

On November 24, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, during which the current situation in various spheres of the country’s life and development plans for the near future were reviewed.

In particular, upcoming international events were discussed - a meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee and a conference of the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement on health issues.

Reports were also heard on the modernization of fuel and energy complex facilities and the development of measures to reduce methane emissions, the preparation of a bill on energy saving, and the upcoming accession of Turkmenistan to the Global Methane Commitment.

Current tasks in agriculture, plans for celebrating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, as well as drafts of the country’s main financial documents for the next year were discussed.

Announcements of upcoming events

On November 29, the 6th meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee will be held in Ashgabat. The agenda will include issues of interaction in the fuel and energy complex, transport and logistics, agriculture, healthcare, chemical and textile industries, science and education, and high technology.

On December 8-9, Ashgabat will host an international conference dedicated to cooperation between member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement on preparing for threats arising in public health and jointly combating them. The event is expected to involve specialists from 30 countries.

Fuel and Energy Complex

The State Concern “Turkmengas” is modernizing gas compressor stations to increase hydrocarbon production volumes. This work is being carried out jointly with reliable foreign partners, agreements with which were reached during the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Germany on September 28-29.

A number of specific measures to reduce methane emissions were developed by specialists from the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the Institute “Nebitgazylymtaslama” of the State Concern “Turkmenneft”.

To achieve this, it is proposed to use modern environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies in the fields of energy, industry and transport.President Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered the effective use of the recommendations of scientists in the work of state concerns.

Electric power industry

The draft Law of Turkmenistan “On Energy Saving and Efficient Use of Energy” is being prepared. It will be aimed at rationalizing the consumption of energy resources, diversifying export routes, as well as strengthening Turkmenistan’s position in the global energy market.

The international cooperation

Turkmenistan will join the Global Methane Commitment. This is planned to be announced during the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28). The country will also join a number of other documents that will be adopted during the event.

The celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi was included in the List of significant dates for joint celebration with UNESCO in 2024-2025.

A resolution on this was adopted during the meeting of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference on November 21 at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

Finance

At the fourth meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the draft State Budget of the country for 2024 and the Parliamentary Resolution on the implementation of the State Budget for 2022 will be considered.

Agriculture

At present time, agrotechnical measures are being carried out in Turkmenistan to care for wheat crops, harvest cotton, harvest rice (in Dashoguz and Lebap velayats) and sugar beets (in the Mary region).

Culture

A number of cultural events are planned for December this year.

Celebrations will be organized in honor of the International Day of Neutrality, including concerts, a song and music event Arkadag Serdarly bagtyýar ýaşlar parahatçylygyň waspçylarydyr!, a forum “Dialogue is a guarantee of peace”, laying flowers at the Neutrality Monument.

There will also be an awards ceremony for the winners of the literary competition Pähim-paýhas ummany Magtymguly Pyragy and the final of the song competition Ýylyň parlak ýyldyzy as part of the competition of the President of Turkmenistan Türkmeniň Altyn asyry.

A joint exhibition of decorative and applied arts of Turkmenistan and Iran, a festival of theatrical performances of classical works, as well as a medley concert of Turkmen and foreign classical songs are planned.
